Not everyone plays BGMI on a flagship phone, and that is perfectly fine. Millions of Indian gamers grind ranked matches on budget devices with 2GB or 3GB of RAM, and with the right settings, you can still enjoy smooth gameplay and climb the ranks. This guide covers everything you need to know about optimizing BGMI graphics and FPS settings on low-end devices so you get the best possible performance without sacrificing too much visual clarity.

Understanding BGMI Graphics Tiers

BGMI offers several graphics presets that directly impact visual quality and frame rate. Understanding what each tier does helps you make informed decisions about where to set your trade-off between looks and performance.

Smooth is the lowest graphics preset and the one every low-end device should be using. It strips away most visual effects like dynamic shadows, detailed textures, and ambient lighting. The result is a cleaner, simpler look that your processor can render quickly. While the game looks less impressive, the performance gains are enormous. On a 2GB RAM device, switching from Balanced to Smooth can add 10-15 FPS to your average frame rate.

Balanced is the middle ground that adds back some visual detail without destroying performance on mid-range devices. Shadows reappear, textures get more detail, and the overall image looks sharper. If your phone has 3GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 680 or better, Balanced is a reasonable choice. Anything below that, stick with Smooth.

HD is where low-end devices start to struggle significantly. The added texture detail, improved lighting, and post-processing effects require GPU resources that budget phones simply do not have. Playing on HD with 2GB RAM will result in frame drops, stuttering, and potentially crashes during intense fights. Avoid this setting if performance is your priority.

HDR and Ultra HD are exclusively for flagship devices with powerful GPUs and at least 6GB of RAM. If your phone struggles with Smooth or Balanced, these settings are not even worth considering.

Different phones have different capabilities, so here is a breakdown of recommended settings based on your device’s specifications.

2GB RAM Devices

If you are playing on a phone with 2GB of RAM, you are working with minimal resources. Your priority is stability and frame rate above everything else.

Set your graphics to Smooth and your frame rate to Medium (30 FPS). This combination ensures the game runs consistently without thermal throttling or memory-related crashes. Popular 2GB RAM devices in India include the Redmi 9A, Samsung Galaxy A03, and Realme Narzo 50i. On these phones, you can expect 25-30 FPS in most situations, with occasional dips to around 20 FPS during intense squad fights or when driving vehicles at high speed.

Do not enable anti-aliasing, do not use the Ultra frame rate option, and make sure to close every other app running in the background before launching BGMI. Your phone has very limited memory, and every megabyte counts.

3GB RAM Devices

Phones with 3GB of RAM have slightly more breathing room. The Redmi 13C, Samsung Galaxy A14, Realme C55, and Poco C55 fall into this category.

Set your graphics to Smooth and your frame rate to High (40 FPS). This gives you a noticeable visual fluidity improvement over Medium without overtaxing your hardware. Some 3GB RAM phones with efficient processors like the MediaTek Helio G85 can even handle Smooth with Ultra (50 FPS) in shorter matches or TDM mode, but expect thermal throttling to kick in after 15-20 minutes of continuous play.

If you notice frame drops during the first few minutes of a classic match, try dropping to Medium frame rate. Consistency matters more than peak performance in ranked games.

4GB RAM Devices

With 4GB of RAM, you have the minimum for a comfortable BGMI experience. Devices like the Redmi Note 11, Samsung Galaxy A34, Realme 10, and Motorola Moto G73 fall into this tier.

You can run Smooth with Ultra (50 FPS) comfortably, and some of these devices can even handle Balanced with Ultra for a nicer look while maintaining decent performance. The Snapdragon 680 and Dimensity 1080 processors found in many 4GB RAM phones handle these settings well.

For the best experience, set Smooth graphics with Ultra frame rate. This gives you the competitive advantage of high frame rate while keeping the visual clutter low enough to spot enemies easily.

How to Maximize FPS on Budget Devices

Beyond the basic graphics settings, there are several adjustments you can make to squeeze every last frame out of your phone.

Close background applications. This is the single most impactful thing you can do. BGMI needs as much RAM and CPU time as it can get. Before launching the game, swipe away every app from your recent apps list. On Android, you can also go to Settings, Apps, and force stop apps that run in the background like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. These apps consume memory and CPU cycles even when you are not actively using them.

Enable Game Mode or Performance Mode. Most budget phones come with a built-in game mode that optimizes system resources for gaming. On Xiaomi and Redmi devices, this is called Game Turbo. On Samsung phones, it is Game Launcher with Game Booster. On Realme devices, it is called Game Space. Activate this feature and enable performance mode within it. This typically disables background syncing, limits background data usage, and allocates more CPU and GPU resources to the game.

Disable unnecessary BGMI features. Go to your in-game settings and turn off Antialiasing if it is enabled. Disable the Kill Message feature, turn off Auto-adjust graphics, and set the graphic quality to the lowest option available. You should also disable death replay and spectator mode notifications, as these consume processing power during gameplay.

Lower your screen resolution if possible. Some Android phones allow you to reduce the display resolution in settings. Switching from FHD+ (1080p) to HD+ (720p) can significantly reduce the load on your GPU. The game will look slightly less sharp, but the frame rate improvement is substantial. On Samsung phones, go to Settings, Display, Screen Resolution and select HD+. On Xiaomi phones, go to Settings, Display, and look for the resolution option.

Keep your phone cool. Thermal throttling is the enemy of frame rate. When your phone overheats, it automatically reduces CPU and GPU performance to prevent damage. To avoid this, remove your phone case while gaming, play in a cool environment, and avoid charging while playing. If you are in a warm area, consider placing a small fan near your phone or playing near a window with good airflow.

Here is what you can realistically expect from commonly available budget devices in India when running Smooth graphics settings.

Redmi 13C (Helio G85, 3GB RAM): 30-35 FPS on Medium, occasional drops to 25 FPS during intense fights. Stable enough for casual ranked play but will struggle in high-intensity scenarios.

Samsung Galaxy A34 (Dimensity 1080, 4GB RAM): 40-50 FPS on Ultra, very stable. This is one of the best budget devices for BGMI, delivering consistent performance even during late-game circles with multiple squads alive.

Realme Narzo 50i (Helio G25, 2GB RAM): 20-30 FPS on Medium. This is a bare minimum device for BGMI. You can play, but expect noticeable choppiness and frame drops. Prioritize TDM and Arena modes over classic matches for a better experience.

Poco C55 (Helio G85, 4GB RAM): 35-45 FPS on High. Similar performance to the Redmi 13C but with more RAM overhead for background processes.

Samsung Galaxy A14 (Helio G80, 3GB RAM): 28-35 FPS on Medium. Decent performance for casual play, though the occasional stutter during large explosions is noticeable.

Motorola Moto G73 (Dimensity 930, 8GB RAM): 50-60 FPS on Ultra. While this phone has more RAM than typical budget devices, it is still considered a mid-range phone and delivers excellent BGMI performance.

Specific Settings to Disable for Better Performance

Beyond the graphics menu, several other settings consume resources you might not realize.

Social features: Turn off friend request notifications, squad invite pop-ups, and chat notifications. These create overlay elements that use processing power.

Sound quality: If your device struggles, set audio quality to Low or Normal instead of High. The difference is minimal for gameplay but frees up a small amount of processing power.

Replay system: Disable auto-save replays if your device supports this feature. Replay recording continuously writes data to memory and storage, both of which are precious resources on budget phones.

Download manager: Go to your resource download settings and remove any maps or voice packs you do not use. If you only play Erangel and Sanhok, delete the other maps from your device. This frees up storage space and reduces background processes.

Notifications from other apps: Enable Do Not Disturb mode while gaming. Notifications from WhatsApp, Instagram, and other apps cause the screen to dim slightly, display overlay elements, and consume processing resources. A single notification at the wrong moment can cause a frame drop that costs you a fight.

Optimizing Storage for Better Performance

Budget phones often have limited storage, and a full storage drive impacts game performance. BGMI itself takes up several gigabytes, and if your phone storage is nearly full, the game will struggle to load assets efficiently.

Aim to keep at least 2GB of free storage on your device at all times. Delete old apps you no longer use, clear cache files regularly, and move photos and videos to cloud storage or an SD card. On Android, go to Settings, Storage to see what is consuming space and clean up accordingly.

Network Considerations for Low-End Devices

While not directly related to graphics settings, network performance on budget devices deserves mention. Budget phones often have weaker WiFi and cellular antennas, leading to lag spikes and desync issues that make the game feel choppy even when your frame rate is stable.

Use a stable WiFi connection whenever possible. If you must use mobile data, ensure you have a strong 4G signal. Avoid gaming during peak hours when network congestion is highest. Consider using a gaming VPN or a network optimization app to reduce latency if your ISP routes traffic poorly to BGMI servers.

The Reality of Competitive Play on Budget Devices

Let us be honest: playing BGMI on a 2GB or 3GB RAM phone puts you at a competitive disadvantage. You will not have the smooth aiming experience that flagship users enjoy, and frame drops during critical moments can cost you fights. But this does not mean you cannot enjoy the game or climb ranks.

Focus on game sense, positioning, and strategy rather than relying on raw mechanical skill that requires high frame rates. Many top-ranked Indian players started their journey on budget devices and learned to play smart precisely because they could not rely on superior hardware.

Use the settings outlined in this guide, optimize your device as much as possible, and focus on consistent performance rather than chasing the highest frame rate your phone cannot sustain. A stable 30 FPS with no frame drops is better than an unstable 45 FPS that fluctuates wildly during fights.
