BGMI Weapon Attachments Explained: What Each One Actually Does

Attachments Are Not Optional
An unattachmented weapon in BGMI is a handicap. Attachments reduce recoil, increase stability, and improve handling. The difference between a bare M416 and a fully kitted M416 is dramatic. Recoil drops by 30-40 percent. Stability improves noticeably at range.
Most players grab whatever attachments they find. The better approach is knowing what each attachment does and choosing the right one for your playstyle.
Muzzles
Muzzles attach to the end of the barrel. They affect recoil, sound, and flash.
Compensator
Reduces both vertical and horizontal recoil. The compensator is the best all-around muzzle for spraying. It makes sustained fire more controlled.
Best for: ARs used for spraying (M416, SCAR-L, AKM)
Flash Hider
Reduces muzzle flash and slightly reduces vertical recoil. The flash hiding is useful at night or in dark areas. The recoil reduction is less than a compensator.
Best for: Stealth play, night maps, snipers who want to stay hidden
Suppressor
Reduces gunshot sound and eliminates muzzle flash. The suppressor makes you harder to locate by sound. It does not reduce recoil.
Best for: Snipers, stealth play, late-game positioning where sound matters
Choke (Shotguns)
Increases pellet spread density for shotguns. More pellets hit the target at range. This extends the effective range of shotguns.
Best for: All shotguns (S686, S1897, S12K)
Grips
Grips attach to the forend of ARs and SMGs. They affect recoil pattern and stability.
Vertical Foregrip
Reduces vertical recoil significantly. The vertical foregrip makes it easier to keep the crosshair on target during sustained fire. It is the most popular grip for spraying.
Best for: AR spraying, any weapon you use for sustained fire
Horizontal Foregrip
Reduces horizontal recoil and slightly reduces vertical recoil. Horizontal recoil is the side-to-side bounce that is harder to predict. This grip makes sprays more consistent.
Best for: Weapons with high horizontal recoil (AKM, Beryl M762)
Angled Foregrip
Reduces horizontal recoil and improves aim-down-sight speed. The angled foregrip helps with quick aiming and reduces side-to-side bounce.
Best for: Aggressive play, quick-scoping, weapons you use for both spraying and tapping
Light Grip
Reduces recoil recovery time and slightly reduces vertical recoil. The light grip helps the crosshair return to center faster after each shot.
Best for: Tap-firing, DMRs, weapons you fire in single shots
Thumb Grip
Improves aim-down-sight speed and reduces vertical recoil. The thumb grip is similar to the angled foregrip but with more ADS speed improvement.
Best for: Quick reaction fights, close-range combat, weapons you snap onto targets with
Half Grip
Reduces recoil and improves recoil recovery. The half grip is a balanced option that helps with both vertical and horizontal recoil.
Best for: Versatile play, any weapon you use in multiple ways
Magazines
Extended Magazine
Increases magazine capacity. The extended mag holds more bullets before reloading. An AR extended mag holds 40 rounds instead of 30.
Best for: Every weapon. More bullets means more sustained fire.
Quickdraw Magazine
Reduces reload time and increases capacity. The quickdraw mag combines faster reloads with more bullets. It is strictly better than a standard magazine.
Best for: Every weapon. Always prefer quickdraw over extended if you find one.
Extended Quickdraw Magazine
The best of both worlds. Maximum capacity and fastest reload. This is the best magazine in the game.
Best for: Every weapon. Always use extended quickdraw when available.
Stocks
Tactical Stock
Reduces recoil and improves stability for weapons that accept it. The tactical stock is available for the Vector, MP5, and a few other SMGs.
Best for: SMGs that accept it (always use one)
Cheek Pad
Reduces recoil and improves stability for snipers. The cheek pad makes bolt-action snipers more stable for follow-up shots.
Best for: All snipers (Kar98k, M24, AWM)
Scopes
Red Dot / Holographic
1x magnification. Best for close range. The red dot gives a clear sight picture without magnification. Use it for spray fights under 50 meters.
2x Scope
2x magnification. Good for mid-range. The 2x scope gives slight magnification without losing peripheral vision. Versatile for most fights.
3x Scope
3x magnification. Good for mid-to-long range. The 3x scope is popular on ARs for its balance of magnification and field of view.
4x Scope
4x magnification. Good for long range. The 4x scope is the standard sniper scope. It works on ARs too but can be hard to control for spraying.
6x Scope
6x magnification. Good for very long range. The 6x scope can be adjusted down to 3x on ARs. This makes it versatile for both mid and long range.
8x Scope
8x magnification. Good for extreme range. The 8x scope is sniper-only. It gives the most magnification but the narrowest field of view.
Recommended Setups
M416 Spray Setup
Compensator + Vertical Foregrip + Extended Quickdraw + Tactical Stock + 3x Scope. This is the most popular spray setup in BGMI.
AKM Spray Setup
Compensator + Horizontal Foregrip + Extended Quickdraw + 2x or Red Dot. The AKM has high recoil so the horizontal grip helps with consistency.
Kar98k Setup
Suppressor or Flash Hider + Cheek Pad + Extended Quickdraw + 8x Scope. Stealth and precision for bolt-action sniping.
Beryl M762 Setup
Compensator + Half Grip + Extended Quickdraw + Red Dot. The half grip balances the Beryl’s unpredictable recoil.
Common Mistakes
Using a suppressor on an AR for spraying. The suppressor does not reduce recoil. For spray weapons, the compensator is almost always better.
Ignoring grips. A grip reduces recoil by 10-20 percent. That is significant. Always use a grip.
Using an 8x on an AR. The 8x scope is too magnified for AR spraying. Use a 3x or 4x for ARs and save the 8x for snipers.
Picking attachments randomly. Know what each attachment does and choose based on your weapon and playstyle.
Final Thoughts
Attachments are not decorations. Each one changes how your weapon performs. The right attachments reduce recoil, improve stability, and make your weapon more effective. Learn what each one does and always fully kit your weapons. The difference is noticeable.
